Michael J. Detorie, Esq., Of Counsel to the Firm, is a seasoned labor relations attorney currently serving as staff counsel to a large private-sector labor union. He provides comprehensive legal guidance on complex labor relations matters, including collective bargaining, contract interpretation and enforcement, and regulatory compliance, and represents employees in discipline arbitrations and matters before the FAA, the TSA, and the NTSB Office of Administrative Law Judges.

With nearly two decades of professional experience spanning federal collective bargaining, employment disputes, and labor relations strategy, Mr. Detorie has represented and counseled federal agencies and unions at the highest levels. His career is marked by leadership roles in high-stakes labor negotiations, complex investigations, and arbitration advocacy.

Previously, Mr. Detorie served as Chief Negotiator for agencies at both the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Department of Homeland Security. In these roles, he led national bargaining teams comprised of senior executives, represented agencies in labor disputes before the FLRA and FSIP, and advised senior executives and political appointees on critical labor relations issues. Earlier in his career, he served sixteen years with the United States Capitol Police where he was an elected union executive and negotiator for the Fraternal Order of Police, representing law enforcement officers in contract negotiations, internal affairs investigations tied to high-profile incidents, and cases at the Office of Congressional Workplace Rights.

Mr. Detorie earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Towson University. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

After living and working in the DC-Baltimore area his entire life, Mr. Detorie, along with his wife and two youngest children, relocated to Fayette County, Georgia in 2023, where they enjoy watching college and pro sports, flipping a coin for Atlantic or Gulf beaches, and getting to and from school activities in their golf cart.
